Obituary

Paul L. Hauswirth, 73, of Ontonagon passed away at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, WI of an aortic aneurysm on July 2, 2013.

Dick, as he was known by family and friends, was born in Hancock, MI to Paul L. Hauswirth, Sr. and Ann Erikkson on September 1, 1939.

On February 8, 1958 he married the former Sandra Fay Paquette of Lake Linden. For a short period of time they resided in Hancock, moving to Ontonagon in March of the same year. Prior to moving to Ontonagon, he was employed at the Daily Mining Gazette as a linotype operator. He began working at the Huss paper mill in Ontonagon, leaving there in 1958 to work for Ed and Irene Wolf for the Ontonagon Herald, where he was employed until his death. From 1969 to 1999, he and his wife, along with Ed and Joyce Szaroletta owned and operated the newspaper/print shop. He wore many hats: editor, publisher, printer, and was in charge of ordering printing supplies. For the past 14 years he has worked for owner/editor Maureen Guzek. Dick was also an avid deer hunter and fisherman.

Dick is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra; daughters Fay Marie Hauswirth and Robin Lynn Hauswirth, both of Ontonagon; siblings Cecilia Warren, Joe (Lynda) Haas and Debra (Bruce) Seid, all of Ontonagon; 3 grandchildren: Stefanie Anttila of Marquette, Samantha Anttila and Dennis Anttila of Ontonagon; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Carl Haas, and brother Scott Hauswrith.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation. A Graveside Service will be held Monday, July 8 at 11 a.m. at the Holy Family Cemetery in Ontonagon, with Father Michael Jacobus as Celebrant.
