IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Randall Charles
Trasti
April 29, 1954 – September 12, 2024
Randy (Ralph) Trasti, 70, of Ontonagon, MI, passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 12, 2024.
Born on April 29, 1954, to William and Edna Mabel (Lampinen) Trasti, in Hancock, MI, Randy grew up in Ontonagon, MI, and graduated in 1972 from the Ontonagon Area High School.
He lived and worked in various places throughout his life, including Ontonagon, MI; Kissimmee, FL; and Monticello, MN, as a heavy equipment operator for the Local 49ers Operators Union before retiring at 62.
"The Old Man and The Sea" loved fishing and taking his grandchildren, friends, and dogs for rides in his boat on Lake Superior.
Randy and Liz Bourbonais were married for a little over 27 years, and he will be dearly missed by Liz and children, Brian and Keith (Carly) Bailey and Renee (Tom) Benes; grandchildren, Marijane (Luke) Evans, Hannah (Austin Lovold) Miller; Destiny, Kaida, and Madden Benes; and Lexi and Lennon Bailey; mother-in-law, Kiyo (Kitty) Bourbonais; sister-in-law, Linda (Jerry) Koski; nieces, Kristie (Jim) Gonzales, Kathy (Chuck) Kotlaris, and Karen (Bob) Juntunen. And, last, but not least, he will be sadly missed by his many lifelong friends.
He will be reunited with family who have gone before him—mother and father, Mabel and Bill; his brothers, Billy and Jerry Kovalainen; and his nephew, Jim (Bucket) Koski.
Randy treated everyone he met equally well, with genuine kindness and a smile. He was considered a friend by a lifetime of acquaintances by whom he will also be sadly missed.
A casual Celebration of Life will be held at the Ontonagon Park Legion cabin at 3 PM on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, and food and beverages will be served by his family.
Burial will be held at the Riverside Cemetery at a later date this fall.
