Plutchak

Richard G. Plutchak passed away on August 8th 2009 at his daughter's home in DeWitt, MI, where he was comforted by his family.
Richard was the son of Henry and Ellen Plutchak. He was born in Daggett, MI, spent his young years in Iron River and Gibb City, moving to Mass City when he was in 10th grade.
He, like many others, answered his country's call to duty and enlisted in the Air Corp, serving in World War II. He married the former Alyce Penegor in 1942. After he was discharge from the service, they made their home in Greenland, MI until 1973 when there home was destroyed by fire. He relocated his family to the big white house on the ridge in MassCity. Richard owned and operated Plutchak's Service station with his brother Miles for 36 years. He retired in 1982, turning the business over to his son Jim and nephew Jerry.
He always had strong opinions and was true to his word. Dick will be remembered for his love of family, friends and golf. Through out the years his many nieces and nephews shared fond memories with Uncle Dick, be it water skiing at Twin Lakes, Buck night at the Drive In, golfing behind a "slow" foursome on the golf course, being pulled out of the ditch in the middle of the night or taking a "quick joy ride" in one of his many new cars.
Richard is survived by his three daughters: Jane (Patrick) Gannaway of Lansing, MI Julie (Charles) Richey of Manistique MI and Jennifer (Jim) of DeWitt, MI , one son Jim (Krissy) of Twin Lakes, MI., his grandchildren ; Jason Devereaux , Jessica Saindon, Jared Kemppainen (Amie), Jon Saindon, Hillary Stites (Shane) Janelle Kemppainen, and Craig Plutchak.; two great grandchildren Shayna and Summer Stites; one sister Dixie Ann Penman as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Alyce of 64 years, his sister Rose Ellen Martin and brother Miles Plutchak.
The Cane Funeral Home will be open for visitation on Tuesday evening from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service for Richard will be held on Wednesday August 12, 2009, at 1:00 pm at St Paul's LutheranChurch in Ontonagon, followed by a reception at the church and burial at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Greenland, MI.
