Robert L. Johnson,72 of Ontonagon, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2024 at Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield, MI with his wife at his side.

Robert (Bob) was born in Detroit, Michigan to Robert LeRoy Johnson and Mary Celia (Korenchuk) Johnson on October 19, 1951. Bob was raised and went to school in Livonia, Michigan, where he lived the first 43 years of his life. He worked for the Adistra Corporation and was a member of the Teamster Union, where he served as president of his union local for many years.

Bob found his way to Ontonagon with friends for fishing and camping and made the decision that this is where he wanted to stay. He then met and married the love of his life Julia (Brookins) Johnson on August 2, 2003. Bob continued driving over the road for Jeff Foster Trucking out of Superior Wisconsin until he retired November of 2013. Bob's favorite things to do were camping, fishing, canoeing, walking in the woods, along with being a "saver of things". Bob was well known for his large personality, quick wit and sense of humor, which will be missed greatly.

Bob is survived by his wife Julie, his son Robert L Johnson, step-children; Jamie (Patrick) Leonard, Mark Marley and Michelle (James) Strickland; his sister Nicole Sawyer; grandchildren; Gavin & Caden Leonard, Jai Lynn, Kwinten & Ari Strickland, and several nieces and nephews.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents Robert L, and Mary C Johnson, his brother Edward Johnson and a sister Mildred Silardi.

A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the home of Robert & Julie. A memorial service will start at 12 noon, followed by a celebration of life and luncheon. Family and friends are invited.

Bob's family sincerely appreciated the loving care he received from the staff at Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield, Michigan.

Those who wish to remember Bob in a special way, may make a donation to the Parkinsons Foundation, the Lewy Body Dementia Foundation or a charity of their choosing in his honor.
