Robert Joseph Mariacher 89 of Rockland, MI passed away on February 23, 2009 in his home with his family by his side.

He was born on April 16, 1919 in Chicago, IL to Dominicus & Caroline (Mallisch) Mariacher

Robert served in the Marine Corp beginning in May 1944. He was awarded the Purple Heart for being wounded and was honorably discharged in November 1945.

Robert then married Patricia Ruth Roach on November 12, 1965. Together they ran a home for mentally disabled children in Woodstock, IL. They retired in 1986 and moved to Rockland.

Robert is survived by sons David of Rockland and Richard of Niles, IL, daughters Rachel Mariacher Shamion of Rockland, Gina Peck of Warner Robbins, GA, Michelle Mariacher of Helena, MT and Lola Jean Mariacher of L'Anse, MI, grandchildren Bryan Haskall, Devin Shamion, Gavin Peck, Tracia, Mercedes, Delorian, Martha Rose, Issaac and Azaria Mariacher and brother John (Antoinette) of Gray's Lake, IL.

He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Ruth, sons Richard and Roberts Mariacher, brothers John, Bill and Clarence and sisters Caroline Mahler, Sophie Ceibenaler and Marie and Lucille Mariacher.

Funeral services will take place Saturday, February 28th 3 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Rockland, Pastor Cherrie Sporleder officiating. Friends may call at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Spring burial will be at Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain. The Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family.
