Robert "Bob" Mitten, 81, of Ontonagon, passed away on September 22, 2020 at home.

Bob earned a degree in Geology from Fort Hays State University in Kansas.  His professional career included management and mine safety in New Mexico, Colorado, the U.P., and Turkey.

Amongst many of his accomplishments, his greatest post-retirement achievement was the building and solo voyage of his 41 foot wooden boat around the Great Loop in 2006-2007.

Bob is survived by his daughter Renee, sisters Rita, Shirley and Rondy (Butch), Granddaughters Ashley (Dibesh) and Stormi, Great-Granddaughter Samara, numerous nieces and nephews and his life partner Sally.

Bob is preceded in death by his 3 children Russell, Robben and Rodney.

At the request of Bob, there will be no formal services.  The family will have a celebration of his life in the summer of 2021.

He was a wonderful man who will be truly missed by his family and friends.
