Bob Niemela, 72, of Ontonagon died May 29, 2017 of natural causes.

Bob was a father, a friend, an engineer, and a visionary. Most importantly, he was a man of integrity and extraordinary faith. Faith in family, faith in community, and faith in miracles. He devoted his life's work to making the world a better place, whether through engineering leadership, educating students, or civic engagement, and he leaves a legacy of perseverance and ingenuity.

Bob is survived by his two children, Jay Todd (Opie) Allen of Steamboat Springs, Colorado and Dana Louise Niemela of Golden, Colorado, and his sister Nancy Niemela of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Services will be held at St Paul Lutheran Church in Ontonagon at 12pm on Thursday, June 8. An open house will follow at Bob's house on Lake Superior concluding with a sunset ceremony on the beach. All are welcome to come and celebrate Bob.
