IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert
Schneck
January 27, 1928 – March 11, 2014
Robert "Bob" John Schneck, age 86 of Ontonagon MI, living in Owosso, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Memorial Healthcare Center with family present.
Bob was born January 27, 1928 in White Lake, Wisconsin, to John and Emma (Krueger) Schneck. He graduated from Ontonagon High School, served as a medic in the United States Air Force 82nd Airborne 325th Division, and attended Acme School of Tool and Die. He married Judith Wanece White on October 27, 1962 in Ontonagon. She preceded him in death on December 3, 2008. Robert worked for UPPCO (Upper Peninsula Power Company) as a service man and a meter reader and retired after 30 years of service.
After retiring he and Judy became snow birds. They traveled to Lake Havasu, Arizona each winter where they enjoyed rock hunting in the desert and playing Bocce with old and new friends. Bob (also known as Yonder) was active in a bowling league, Stein Club, ski patrol, and Boy Scouts. He was an avid photographer and loved being in the outdoors. He was often seen taming chipmunks and getting birds to eat out of his hand. Some of his favorite times were hiking into the Porcupine Mountains, taking a carload of kids skiing, building floats for the Ontonagon Labor Day parade, making maple syrup, golfing, and occasionally making a casino trip. He and Judy both loved to dance and could always be found on the dance floor no matter what was playing. Bob was also known for making pancakes for breakfast almost every Saturday morning and enjoying a bowl of ice cream every night.
He is survived by his children Jon (Lorrie) Schneck and Jacalyn (Lance) Little; grandchildren Emilie Anne and Allie Rose Schneck and Everett Jackson Little; sister Ethel Zartner; brother-in-law James White; sisters-in-law Judy White and Karen White and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his wife, parents, sisters Hazel Barry and Ruth Hebert and brother Raymond Schneck.
Bob will be missed by family and friends and remembered as being "the fun one." He always had a smile on his face and was either laughing, singing or whistling.
To say goodbye we use a quote often heard from Bob "bye, bye - buy bonds."
Funeral services will be held at Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon at 11:30 am on Saturday, March 22 nd , Pastor Neider presiding. Visitation will be from 5pm to 8pm Friday, March 21st and one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions are suggested to Respite Volunteers of Shiawassee and Shiawassee Council on Aging.
