Robert Joseph "Bob" Wolfe of Ewen passed away at his home after a short battle with cancer Wednesday, March 17, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born in Ewen on June 9, 1931 to Joseph & Minnie (Usimaki) Wolfe. On September 5, 1953 he married Janet Rajala. After graduation, Bob worked at the Ewen Creamery. Later, while working at the White Pine Copper Mine, Bob began to involve himself in his true passion, excavating. In 1972 he began full time with his business, Wolfe's excavating. He enjoyed working with and teaching his sons the trade, eventually passing it on to his son Dan who loves the business as much as Bob did.
Like his dad before him, Bob had a love for gardening. The lake property was a favorite gathering spot for the entire family.
Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years Janet, 2 sons Steve (Ellyce) of Bloomington, IL and Dan (Jody) of Trout Creek, MI, 2 daughters Sandy (Frank) Bjorkman of Menominee, MI and Amy (Scott) Hockenbrock of Superior, WI, 1 daughter-in-law (widow of Robert Scott) Sharon (Scott) Ihlenfeldt of Kingsland, GA 11 grandchildren Jessi (Steve) Samuel, Adam (Meredith) Bjorkman, Kristin and Cassie Bjorkman, Leah and P.J. Wolfe, Hunter and Hannah Hockenbrock and Jamie, Joshua and Jayci Ihlenfeldt, 2 great-grandchildren Matthew Scott and Grace Samuel, one sister Marie Kuehnl of Bruce Crossing, MI and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Scott and his brother Joseph.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday March 20th at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ewen Father Sebastian Ettoil officiating. Friends may call at the church 2 hours prior to the start of the Mass. Spring interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Ewen. Dennis Brown of the Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family. .
