Rodney Lee Pantti, 60, passed away August 15, 2013 under the care of Aspirus Keweenaw Hospice in Rockland at the home of his mother, Melba Pantti, after a brave battle against esophageal and brain cancer.

He was born December 30, 1052 to Elmer and Melba (Sirvio) Pantti in Hancock. On December 15, 2012 he was united in marriage to Laurie Mattson.

Rodney was a 1970 graduate of Ontonagon High School and also attended Michigan Technological University. He worked as a master mason.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie; mother, Melba Pantti; son, Jason; daughters Erica and Amanda; stepdaughter, Tonya Janecek; brother, Dennis of Kingsford; sisters Bonnie (Pat) O'Connell of Menasha, WI and Sheryl McGeary of Colorado Springs, CO; mother-in-law Arlene Huhta; brothers- and sisters-in law; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rodney was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Pantti and brothers Michael and Wendell.

A Memorial Service for Rodney will be held August 31, 2013 at 2 p.m. the Assembly of God Church in Ontonagon.
