Ruth E. Karianen, 91, of Trout Creek, MI passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Gogebic Medical Care Facility in Wakefield, MI   Ruth was born in Bruce Crossing, MI to Jacob and Hilda (Heikkinen) Niemi on April 20, 1925 on the family farm.  She enjoyed making rugs, wine, canning and the outdoors.  Ruth was a member of the General Grand Chapter order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by one son; Kenneth (Gloria) Karianen of Trout Creek,  two daughters; Clare (Jack) Pfeifer of Brookfield, WI and Barbara (Kirk) Piehl of Kenosha, WI.  10 Grandchildren, 17 Great- grandchildren and 7 Great- great grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wilho, her son Alvin Karianen and a daughter Christine Hiitola and her grandson Mark Karianen.

Visitation will take place Saturday May 6, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Cane Funeral Home, Bruce Crossing, MI with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM  Burial will take place in Agate Cemetery
