Ruth E. Steinmetz (Perttula), 95, of Trout Creek, MI passed away on April 27, 2023 at Bayside Village in L'anse, MI.

Ruth was born in Trout Creek to John and Fanny Perttula on July 7, 1927. She graduated from Trout Creek High School and attended Suomi College in Hancock, MI, for one semester.  She married Robert Steinmetz in 1955 and they made their home in Chicago, IL for the next 40 years.  Ruth moved backed to Trout Creek in 1996 after the passing of Robert.  Ruth was a very active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Trout Creek as well as being a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary and 494 Supporters in Trout Creek.

Ruth is survived by her daughters Louise (Richard) Sobon of Lake in the Hills, IL, and Pamela (John) Cachel of Dixon, IL, her son John (Patricia) Steinmetz of Downers Grove, IL, her brother Rueben Perttula of Bakersfield, CA, her grandchildren Stephen (Kelly Foley) Sobon, Scott (Katherine) Sobon, Michele Schultz, Lauren Schultz, Kristen Schultz, Stacie Steinmetz, Michael Cachel and Jennifer (Will) Voigt and her great-grandchildren Atticus Sobon, Zelda Sobon, Maeve Sobon, Liam Sobon, Sophia Cachel and Henry Voigt.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Robert Steinmetz, her daughter Christine (Michael) Schultz, her parents John and Fanny Perttula and her brothers Waino, Walfred, Wilho, Wilbert and Wesley Perttula.

The family of Ruth wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Bayside Village in L'anse, MI, for taking such good care of her these last three and a half years.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 1 pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Trout Creek. Friends may call at the church 2 hours prior to the start of the service. Burial will be at the Trout Creek Cemetery.
