Obituary

Sally Jane Pollard, 72 of Ontonagon, died on Wednesday, April 7 at the Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital. She was born on March 10, 1938 in Ontonagon, Michigan, daughter of the late Waino and Bertha (Store) Kangas.

She graduated from the Mass High School in 1956, and then moved to Milwaukee where she worked at the Wisconsin Electric Company. She married Frank Pollard on August 22, 1959 at St Paul's Lutheran Church in Mass City. In the early 60's, they returned to the Ontonagon area where they raised their four children on their family farm on the Firesteel. Sally re-upholstered furniture for many people over the years and was well known for her talents. She was a kind, caring and hard-working lady. She loved to watch her grandchildren play hockey and rarely missed a game. Her passion for antiques is what led her to open her own shop "Heritage Antiques" in Ontonagon. She cherished her daily stops at Syl's CafAC. where she would visit with her dearest sister-in-law Annabelle. Sally was an active member of The Ladies of Kaleva where she held the position of secretary in the Ainon Tupa #13 of Mass City.

She is survived by her husband, Frank "Bud" of 50 years and their four children, Penny (Michael) Jilbert, Jeffery (Laurie), James (Billie Jean), Patricia (Edward) Polakowski all of Ontonagon; twelve grandchildren, Ashley and Nicole Wyers, Brandon and Logan Jilbert, Tonya (Roy) Jackson, Chelsea, David, Alyssa and Joseph Pollard, Daniel Tousignant, Abby and Edward "Eddy" Polakowski; one great granddaughter Aubrey Reynolds. She is also survived by her two sisters, Phyllis (Carl) Weisinger and Elaine Kuntz, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, one sister-in-law June (Pollard) Coey, three brothers-in-law, Frederick Pollard, Kenneth Coey and Albert Yaunke. Sally also lost her baby daughter Sharon.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 10 at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon with Pastor Howard Neider officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
