Sam (Clarence Edward Jr.) Scheibe/Erickson, 69, of Ontonagon, MI, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital after a two year battle with cancer.
He was born February 15, 1941, in Cloquet, Minnesota to the late Clarence and Elsie (Swanson) Scheibe. After graduating from Cloquet High School, he attended DeVry Institute in Chicago, Illinois. He married Nancy Doran in 1960, together they raised three children.
Sam was a master communicator and excellent in sales. His career started as a broadcast engineer with a KDAL radio/TV station in Duluth, Minnesota. Followed by a long career in sales for Bell & Howell, Industrial Nucleonics, D-A Lubricant of and Cable Constructors and later became self employed in sales. He spent most of his life in the Duluth, Iron Mountain and Houghton area.
Sam was a true adventurer who enjoyed traveling, boating, skiing, working on his bus and hot rod cars. He enjoyed spending his summers in Wawa, Canada with his wife, Susie and had a passion for helping others.
Sam is survived by his wife: Susie Tolkkinen; two sons: Steve Scheibe, Paul (Rose) Scheibe; Daughter: Colleen (Rich) Commons (Iron Mountain) Sister: Margaret Scheibe (Duluth) five grandchildren; Jesse, Michael, John, Michelle Scheibe and Samantha Rintala, one great granddaughter: Katlynn Scheibe. Step Daughter: Jill Kesti (Charlotte) Step Sons: Brian (Aimee) Kesti, Jake (Amanda) Kesti, Bruce (Alicia) Kesti, Luke Kesti (Calumet) and several Step Grandchildren.
