Obituary

Sandra G. (Countryman) Maki 66 of Ontonagon passed away March 2, 2008 at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital's Long Term Care Unit.

She was born June 20, 1041 in Ontonagon to the late Wayne and Lylan (Corey) Countryman Pennala. Sandra graduated in 1959 and shortly afterwards moved to Milwaukee. There she was employed in the astronautics industry for 20 years. In the early 1980's Sandra moved back to the Ontonagon area. She continued to work in area businesses as a cook and bartender. On June 20, 1989 Sandra was united in marriage to Gary Edwin Maki. He preceded her in death on September 19 2000. Sandra was an avid reader who enjoyed reading anything she came into contact with.

She is survived by siblings James Countryman of Ontonagon, April (Al) Piilola of Ironwood, Polly (Walt) Veldman of Ontonagon, Rosalyn Pennala of Ontonagon and Kevin (Michelle) Countryman of Gladstone, MO and several nieces and nephews.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Gust Pennala, husband Gary, sisters Donna Countryman and Sharon Countryman Brown and brother Gene Countryman.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 14th 10:30 a.m. at the White Pine United Methodist Church with pastor Rosemary DeHut officiating. Spring inurnment will be in the Green Cemetery. They were married . Friends may view Sandra's obituary and leave condolences at canefuneralhome.com.
