Sharon Lee Schmaus 75 of Ontonagon passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the University of Arizona Medical Center.

Sherry was born June 15, 1940 in Ontonagon, MI, daughter of the late John and Beatrice (Voss) McCarthy.  She graduated from Ontonagon High School in 1958.  On July 11, 1959, she was united in marriage to George T. Schmaus, Jr.

She worked most of her career as a secretary for the Michigan Department of Social Services.  She was a fun loving person that had many friends. Everyone that met her loved her.  She felt all people should be treated equal and was a friend to all she met.  She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, visiting casinos and her winters in Arizona.

Sherry was preceded in death by her father, John (Jack) McCarthy, mother, Bea McCarthy, and sister, Marilyn Norton.

She is survived by her husband, George, her brother, Robert Schon, daughters, Cindy (Dave) Schmidt, and Pam (Dick) Franti and son, Tim, grandchildren, James Schmidt, Kristen Schmidt, Jason Franti, Michele Franti, Tara Schmaus, TJ Schmaus, Kristina Picotte and Karla Picotte.  She also has nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 13th, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Ontonagon.  Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00, mass at 11:00 and a luncheon to follow.
