​Sophie Veronica Schuster passed away on March 9th, at Aspirus Long-Term Care surrounded by her family.

​Sophie was born on June 25, 1932 in Ontonagon to Bruno Sr. and Marianna Darrow.  She graduated from the Ontonagon Area High School with the class of1950.  On October 3, 1953. Sophie was married to Matthias (Matt) Schuster.  They made their home in Ontonagon where they farmed and logged their property while raising their seven children.  Sophie enjoyed gardening, quilting, working alongside Matt, and spending time with her family.

​She is survived by her husband, Matt; seven children, Mary (Kevin) Shields of Foresthill, CA; Tony (Donna) Schuster of Fort Morgan, CO; Tom Schuster of Brussels, WI; Julie (John) Murphy of Reno, NV; Lucy Schuster of Ontonagon, MI; John Schuster of Mount Pleasant, SC; and Lori Schuster (Robert Gesswein) of Arlington, VA.  She is also survived by three grandchildren, Shelby Vido; Sophie Huggins; and Spencer Schuster, one sister, Stella Artunian and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bruno Darrow Jr.

​In accordance with Sophie's wishes, cremation has taken place.  A celebration of life will be held early this summer and burial will take place in the family plot at the Holy Family Cemetery.
