Stella Light, 85 of Bruce Crossing passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015 in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born February 12, 1929 in Paynesville to George and Mary (Nayback) Nurkkala. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Co-op Creamery, and married Donald Light on September 15, 1962 in Bruce Crossing, where they made their home.

Stella was a member of the Ewen United Methodist Church and enjoyed skiing, hiking, baking and knitting.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, parents and 11 siblings. Stella is survived by her daughter Gwen (Jeffrey) Young of Wichita, KS; grandchildren Ken, Brendan, Kayla, Morgan and Shannon; brother Stanley Nurkkala of Bruce Crossing and sister Bertha Niemi of Trout Creek. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 6-7 pm at the Ewen Methodist Church. Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11 am, also at the Ewen Methodist Church. Spring Burial will take place in the Paynesville Cemetery. The Cane Funeral Home-Bruce Crossing Chapel is assisting the family.
