Sulo J. Hiitola 91 of Bruce Crossing passed away Monday evening in Ontonagon.

He was born May 24, 1916 in North Laird Twp. in Alston to the late Robert and Hilda (Alapert) Hiitola.

Sulo moved with his parents to Paynesvill as a child, he attended local schools and on November 18, 1939 he married the former Mayme Ranta they made their home in Paynesville, she preceeds him in death on Aug.4, 2001.

Sulo was a self-employed finished carpenter for many years retiring in 1980, he also enjoyed bowling and hunting.

Sulo was a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Paynesville.

Sulo is survived by a son: Alvin of Trout Creek, and a sister Mayme Nurmi of Bruce Crossing.

Sulo is preceeded in death by his wife Mayme 5 sisters: Tyyne Hautamaki, Saima Hautamaki Aili Kaars, Impi Hokkanen, Hymi Martz, one brother: Nick and 9 infant siblings.

Funeral services for Sulo will be held Saturday December 1st from Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Paynesville with Rev. John Kuziej Officiating visitation will be at 10:00 from the church, interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
