Thomas M. Platske, 77, of Ewen, MI passed away unexpectedly Friday evening. He was born January 23, 1930 in Ewen to Emil and Elizabeth (Gerber) Platske.
Tom graduated from Ewen High School in 1947 and was anticipating his 60th class reunion in July.
Tom joined the Army in 1947 and served in Korea until 1952. He returned home and married Constance (Connie) Potter on October 13, 1952 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Father Vincent Savageau.
Tom was employed by Fox Valley Construction Company and was a member of the operating engineers # 324 of Escanaba. He was employed by the White Pine Copper Company briefly and then joined the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier, from which he retired.
Tom was a life-long resident of Ewen, a 50-year member of the American Legion Post 41, a staunch member of the Sacred Heart Church, which he loved so much and served in so many different roles. He was a member of council 2391 Knights of Columbus in Ontonagon.
Tom is survived by his wife, Connie, children Thomas E, Ewen, Theresa (Gerard) Adamczyk of Oconomowoc, WI, Theodore (Jed) in Paulding, Christine (James) Ojala, Ewen, Timothy of Ewen and Tracy (Bruce) Franti of McMillan, MI, three brothers, Emil (Frances) of Kalamazoo, Edward (Dorie) of Highbridge, WI, William of Bruce Crossing, one sister, Elizabeth (Donald) Cameron, Saint Paul, MN, three granddaughters, Erica and Nicole Adamczyk of Oconomowoc, WI, and Kalli Ojala of Marquette, MI and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 12 noon (EDT). Rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m., with visitation until the time of the service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ewen with the Reverends Chacko Kakany of Ewen, Aloysius Hasenberg of Watersmeet and Francis G. Dobrzenski of Lake Linden.
Interment, with full military rites, will be held in the Evergreen Cemetery in Ewen.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the charity of your choice.
