Violet Ann Chlapaty 87 of Ontonagon, MI formerly of Skokie, IL passed away November 9, 2007 at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital Long Term Care.

She was born August 31, 1920 in Rockland, MI to the late August & Sarafina Schmaus.

Violet was an active member of the American Legion Post 92 Auxiliary in Rockland, MI. She was also an active member of the Northwest Speed Skating Club of Chicago. IL. She was a loving wife to Albert Chlapaty who preceded her in death.

Violet is survived and deeply loved by her children Michael A. Chlapaty, Gary J. (Susan) Chlapaty, Celeste (Paul) Schultz and Denise (Richard) Bierie, grandchildren Lauren and Allison Chlapaty of Arlington Heights, IL, Gary, Jr. and Stefan Chlapaty of Chester Springs, PA and Amelia Phillips of Phoenixville, PA, Kristen, Carrie and Peter Schultz of Vernon Hills, IL and Kimberly, Karlie and Nicholas Bierie of Acworth, GA.

Violet is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends who cared for her during her final years. Her family would like to thank Barbara Urbis for her love and devotion to their mother along with Peter and Bobby Schmaus and her devoted neighbors Lyle & Lynette Rowell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Church in Skokie, IL Wednesday, November 14th at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be next to her husband Albert in St Joseph Cemetery, River Grove, IL. The Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family.
