Obituary

Virgil T. Weisinger, Sr., 78, of Ontonagon, passed away on July 27, 2011 at Aspirus Ontonagon Long Term.

Virgil was born in Ontonagon, Michigan, to George and Edna (Doverspike) Weisinger on November 7, 1932. He attended school in Ontonagon. He married Winifred Store on February 17, 1953 in Ontonagon. He worked in the logging industry for many years, at the Ontonagon paper mill, and for the Ontonagon County Road Commission as a truck driver until retiring in 1990. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1955. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; he also enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and fishing.

Virgil is survived by his wife, Winnie, two daughters, Jeanne (Jeff Stegg) Weisinger, Brenda (Tom Roberts) Maki; one son, Virgil (Bonnie) Weisinger, Jr.; a brother, Norman (Alice) Weisinger; a sister, Grace (the late Jerry) Makimaa; eight grandchildren, Shannon, Justin, Carissa, Jared, Heather, Tasha, Shelley and Bob; ten great-grandchildren, Austin, Tyler, Evan, Adriana, Joshua, Chayse, Jacob, Connor, Jessica, and Dustin; and one great-great-granddaughter, Jaedyn. He is also survived by numerous family members including in-laws, nephews, nieces, and cousins, and many friends.

Virgil was preceded in death by his father and mother, George and Edna; his step-father, LeRoy; his sister, Bonnie (Weisinger-Davenport) Clark; and his grandparents.

Per the request of the deceased, there will be no funeral service at this time. A private memorial service is being planned for family members on September 3, 2011.

The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Takala, the staff at the Aspirus Long Term Facility, and the many other people, too numerous to mention, who took such good care of Dad. We would also like to thank the staff at Cane Funeral Home for their help at this difficult time.
