Virginia Mae Gordon, 81, of Ontonagon passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital Long Term Care Unit.
Virginia was born October 18, 1929 to Carl and Hulda (Lund) Hanson in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. She moved to Ontonagon at the age of 15, and she later married Dale Gordon on May 31, 1947.
She was a member of the VFW Auxillary and St. Paul Lutheran Church. Virginia also worked at the Ben Franklin store for many years, and was later employed at Chapman's Ace Hardware.
Virginia is survived by her children, Dale Gordon, Jr. of Boulder City, NV, Jenniece (Ted) Hoiska of Sturgeon Bay, WI, Marsha Maki of Ontonagon, Nancy (Bob) Tomlinson of Silver City and Terry Gordon of Georgia; as well as 13 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Merlyn (Donna) Hanson; sister-in-law, Garnet (Jim) Bailey, and brother-in-law, Edgar Gordon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; parents, Carl and Hulda Hanson; sisters, Irene Rohr and Isla Hanson; brother Harlow Hanson; and best friend in the world, Betty Letson.
A memorial service for Virginia will take place on Sunday, May 29, 2011, with the time and place to be announced. The Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family.
