Obituary

Walter William Hautamaki 86 of Agate passed away Thursday November 9, 2006 at Maple Manor in Ontonagon.

He was born September 17, 1920 to the late Matt and Mary (Bergstron) Hautamaki.

Walter was employed in Detroit during W.W. II, he returned to the U.P and was employed for Sironen construction until going to K.I.Sawyer A.F.B. were he was a building maintenance Superintendent retiring after 23 years in 1982. Walter was the youngest of 9 children, after retiring Walt enjoyed being outdoors planting huge gardens, and feeding the deer in the area. He also enjoyed his coffee time at the local restaurants.

Walter married Naimi Florence Merila on June 23, 1952 they made their home in Agate.

Walter is survived by 9 children: Ron (Linda) of Clarkston, Alton (Carol) in Colorado, Eugene ( Sally) of Trout Creek, Sharon DeVowe of Iron River, John of Agate, Joe of Bruce Crossing, (Tom) Ann Colgin of Ontonagon, June (Bob) Reichardt of Ohio and Tony (Vicki) of Ontonagon numerous grandchildren ,great grandchildren nephews and nieces.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife Florence in 2003, 2 sons: Bruce and Roy, 2 grandsons: Jason and Matt Hautamaki 4 brothers: August, Leonard, Reino, and Vernon, 4 sisters: Senia, Aili, Hilda, and Minnie.

Visitation for Walter will be held Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Trout Creek, and 1 hour prior funeral service Monday November 13th at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Scott Williams officiating, interment will be in Agate Cemetery, Trout Creek.

The Cane funeral Home and Dennis Brown are assisting the family.
