Wilho Elmer Karianen (Wardy) 90 of Agate Passed away January 9th in Ontonagon.
He was born Jan.16, 1917 in Agate to the late Charles and Amalia (Jauhiainen) Kariainen.
Wardy was employed at Vicker in Detroit. On May 20 1942 he married Ruth Niemi. They made their home in Agate. Wardy was employed at the North Star Creamery in Bruce Crossing, and was a butcher manager in the local area stores. He also installed and repaired water pumps. He loved to repair old machinery, T.V.s and was a ham operator. Wardy also play semi-pro baseball in Detroit. He loved hunting and fishing
Wardy is survived by his wife: Ruth, 1 son Kenneth (Gloria) of Agate, 2 daughters: Clara Ann (Jack) Pfrifer of Brookfield, WI and Barbara (Kirk) Piehl of Kenosha WI 1 sister Mrs. Sylvia Lakanen of Bruce Crossing, and 2 brothers: Paul (Erma) Trout Creek and Ernie (Carilyn) of Bergland, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great- grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a Son, Alvin, a grandson and one sister: Christine Hiitola, who passed in December of 2007.
Visitation for Wardy will be held Saturday, January 12th from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Trout Creek with Pastor Scott Williams officiating, interment will be in the Agate cemetery.
Dennis Brown of the Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family.
