Obituary

William Richard Carl Burrows Sr., 73, of Ontonagon, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on May 10, 2021 at Aspirus Hospital in Ontonagon.

William (Bill) was born in Marquette to William Henry Burrows and Margaret Burrows (Perander) on June 27, 1947. He graduated from Ontonagon High School in 1967, and married Carol Jean Usimaki on August 5, 1967 in Munising.

Bill worked at the papermill in Ontonagon, the Ontonagon shipyard as a welder, the White Pine mine doing maintenance and mechanic work and finished up his career at the Porcupine Mountains State Park.

He volunteered much of his time playing bass at the Ontonagon Christian Centre in the praise band and loved playing music throughout his life. He played in the Ontonagon Mountaineers and the Ishpeming Blue Notes drum corps and loved to play guitar and ukulele for enjoyment in his free time. Bill enjoyed building RC model planes, model boats, and model trains. He loved fishing, camping, and reading.

Bill is survived by his wife, Carol Burrows, his children, Bob (Carmen) Burrows, Carla (Dean) LaPlant, Tina York, Bill (Teresa) Burrows, his grandchildren, Rob Burrows, Alison Burrows, Lucas Burrows, Christopher (Ali) Bussiere , Lacey LaCosse, Shawna (Rob) Hilligus, Kolin (Madison) York, Shayla (Roger) Uhlig, Brandyn York, Allyssa Burrows, Emma Burrows, Jacob Burrows, Isabella Burrows, Liam Burrows, AJ LaCosse, and his great-grandchildren, Payton LaCosse, Austin LaCosse, Corbin Bussiere, Landyn Withey, Brooklyn Hilligus, Kennedy Hilligus, Natalie Hilligus, Nala Uhlig, Emma York, and Lyla York.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents William Burrows and Margaret and Wilfred Perander.

A funeral service is planned for July 24th at the Ontonagon VFW at 915 River St. in Ontonagon with Pastor Pete LeMoine officiating. Visitation will be at 1:00pm followed by a 2:00pm service with a luncheon to follow. Dress casual, as Bill would know you.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Ontonagon County Cancer Association.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the wonderful nursing and hospital staff at Aspirus Ontonagon for the compassionate care they gave Bill and his family during his last few weeks.
