On Friday, August 8, 2008 Bill Dorvinen, with his family by his side, was called home to be with the Lord.

He was born on October 24, 1929 to William and Hilja (Wayrynen) Dorvinen in Houghton, MI. Bill was a graduate of Ontonagon Area School, served in the U.S. Army, and was a Veteran of the Korean War.

On February 13, 1954 Bill was united in marriage to Darlene Nygard. To this union was born, Gary, Debbie and Susie.

Bill was a foreman at White Pine Copper for nearly 30 years. With the closing of the mine he pursued a lifetime dream by starting Dorvinen Construction.

On December 21, 1996 Bill married Shirley Keranen. They enjoyed traveling, camping, missionary service and family.

Throughout his lifetime Bill was a member of Redeemer Free Lutheran Church, Porcupine Mt. Ski Patrol and Ogema hunting club.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife Darlene, daughter Debbie Myrblom, brothers Carl and John, and sister Margaret Roberts.

Bill is survived by his wife Shirley, son Gary (Martha) Dorvinen, daughter Susie Dorvinen, son-in-law Jerry Myrblom, sister Mary Ann (Robin) Church, step-son Richard Keranen (Pat), step-daughter Cheryl Jarrett, grandchildren Renee (Carlo) Pantti, Jason (Nicollette) Pestka, Jessica Dorvinen, Joy Dorvinen, Abbie Pestka, step-grandchildren Ricky (Sara) Keranen, Jamey Keranen, Josh Myrblom. Great granddaughters Madyson Pantti and Miley Pestka.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 11th 1:00 pm at Redeemer Free Lutheran Church in Ontonagon, Pastor John Voss officiating. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will in the Riverside Cemetery in Ontonagon.
