William T. Rahkola 90 of Ontonagon passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at the Ontonagon Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Wainona, MI on July 28, 1916 to the late Isaac & Hilda (Etala Aho) Rahkola. William lived in the Firesteel area and attended country school. He worked as a logging truck driver until his employment at the White Pine Copper Mine.

On March 5, 1941 he was united in marriage to Florence Kugler. William enjoyed trapping and fishing as a young man. He also enjoyed deer hunting and working in his garden. Many of his friends will remember playing cribbage with William at the VFW.

He is survived by his wife Florence, 2 daughters Delores Aho and Kathleen Laru, 2 sons, Robert and Richard Rahkola, 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

William was preceded in death by his parents and 2 infant children, James and Cheryl.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 19, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon, Pastor John West officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Spring burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery in Ontonagon.
