Alma Miriam (Tikkanen) Nevins

Alma Miriam Tikkanen Nevins passed away peacefully July 13, 2021 at Ontonagon Long Term Care in Ontonagon, MI, she was 96 years old. Alma was born to Waino Tikkanen and Eva (Leinonen) Tikkanen on February 22, 1925 in Tapiola, MI. She was the youngest of seven siblings of the Tikkanen family. She married Lawrence (Pat) Nevins and together they had six children.

She loved all of her children dearly and surely was a home maker, loving her cooking and baking; especially pasties and pies. She loved reading Finnish books and enjoyed watching the Lawrence Welk show, up until being bed ridden her last eight years.

Alma is survived by her children; Sharon Tousignant, Dorothy Maki, Larry Nevins, Mark & (Jeri) Nevins and Rita & (Mike) Sirvio; sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and one great great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one son and two grandchildren.

Per Alma's wishes, there will be a private service with her immediate family. The pallbearers are Mike Sirvio, David Sirvio, Mark Nevins, Jr., Bob Axley, Irving Tronti, Jim Tronti. Pastor Michael Halquist will be officiating.

Cane Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
