Arthur R. Longpre, 78, of Mass City, passed away on September 16th at the UP Health System, Marquette.
Art was born in Detroit, MI on April 5, 1941 to Arthur & Mabel Longpre. He attended and graduated from Calumet High School in 1959.
He married Marwella Picotte on January 29, 1971 in Monroe, MI. He attended Soumi College for 2 years before going on to Northern University for 1.5 years. He enrolled in the UP Plumbers & Pipefitters school in Marquette and became a licensed journeyman plumber & pipefitter working construction throughout Michigan out of Local 414 where he was a member for 50 years.
Art served 2 years in the US Navy with an Honorable discharge August 25, 1960.
He was a member of St. Mary's Parish, Rockland and served as both cup minster and lecture. He also served on the finance committee & men's group.
He is survived by his wife Marwella, daughters Michelle (Scott) Pastor, Gwinn, MI. Tammie Longpre of Vancouver, WA. Six grandchildren; Ryan/Lydia, Sammy/Ken, Sheila/Josh, Alex, Kylie and Kristen. Ten great grand children; Shawn, Grace, Ann, Lucy, Hayden, Warren, Jayna, Kayden, Lilly, Alaina and Rowan. Two brothers Fritz (Carol) Longpre and Eugene Longpre, both of Mohawk, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur & Mable Longpre and sister-in-law Marge.
Services will be held September 26th at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Ontonagon, with Father Michael Jacobus officiating. Visitation will be from 10am-11am with services to follow.
Burial will take place at the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery arranged by Cane Funeral Home.
