Aune Ruth Broemer passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, September 10, 2021, at Brookridge Heights Memory Care in Marquette, Michigan.
Ruth was born in East Branch to Uno and Aune (Wesander) Lahti on July 17, 1935. She attended school in Mass City and graduated from Mass High School with the class of 1953.
She was united in marriage to Dale Broemer on October 10, 1953, in the Ontonagon Methodist Church. She enjoyed all the little bouquets of flowers Dale picked for her. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2010.
Ruth worked as a Rural Route Carrier, retiring on July 17, 1997. She was always proud of her Finnish heritage and she and Dale made trips to Finland to visit relatives there.
Ruth was a member of the Greenland Methodist Church and a Past Matron of Ewen Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and Yahtzee and doing jigsaw puzzles.
Ruth is survived by a brother, William (Mary Claire) Lahti, White Pine, Michigan; a sister, Mary Hite, Jackson, Michigan; an aunt, Linnea Bailey, Salisbury, North Carolina; ten nieces and nephews, and relatives in Finland.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Viola Madison, a niece Carrie Ross, her mother and father-in-law, three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
Out of respect for her wishes, cremation has taken place.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Cane Funeral Home with visitation at 11:00am and service at 12:00pm. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Ontonagon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ruth's name to the Beacon House in Marquette, Portage Hospital Dialysis Department in Hancock or a charity of your choice.
