Barbara Pflugi Vollmer was lifted into heaven by angels on Thursday, August 10, 2023. She was born on July 7, 1939 to Francis and Louise (Ziemnick) Pflugi and raised in Lake Linden, MI. She attended Lake Linden High School, graduating in 1957.
Barb married James Vollmer on May 21 of 1960. Barb waited until her four children were school age then started working at the White Pine Red Owl, Konteka and Porcupine Mt. Ski Lodge. She helped to raise their four children in White Pine and made their home there. Barb was an active member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church, enjoyed singing in the choir and tending to the church's needs. She loved snowmobiling, skating and after retirement working out with her friends and dinners out with the ladies. She was an avid animal lover and had many stories of bunnies, dogs, birds, guinea pigs and once resuscitated a hummingbird. Later in life she loved being outside and going for walks.
She was preceded in death by her parents Francis and Louise Pflugi and her loving aunt Mary Hainault.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, James Vollmer, and sister Mary Gregorich of Calumet. She was dearly loved by her four children Steven (Doreen) Vollmer, Susan (Steve) Makela, Karen Vollmer and Ken Vollmer. Her beloved grandchildren Josh (LeAnn) Makela, Dan (Christie) Makela, Deanna (Ryan) Makela-Mingay, Stephanie, Samantha, and Camryn Vollmer. In addition, her five great grandchildren: Matthew, Emily, Skylar, Owen, and William.
Services will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church in White Pine, Michigan on August 26th, 2023 with visitation from 10:00am - 11:00am and mass at 11:00am, with Father Michael Jacobus officiating.
