On August 30th 2022 Cody Wayne Haapala left this world to be with the Lord. He was born on May 26th 1997 at Portage Hospital in Hancock Michigan to proud parents Roger and Vickie Haapala.
He lived in Rockland Michigan with his parents until he graduated from the Ontonagon Area High School in 2015. He became a proud father himself when his son Jayden Michael was born in 2015. Out of high school Cody spent a brief time roofing at Witting Construction and then at Pettibone in Baraga. He then took a job at Big Valley Ford in Ewen Mi, in 2016 where he has worked as a mechanic until his death.
He lived in North Paynesville, Bruce Crossing MI. Cody was an avid outdoor person enjoying hunting, fishing and camping. Most of all Cody enjoyed spending time with his son. When he wasn’t with Jayden he was talking and thinking about him. He was a quiet gentle soul who didn’t say much when around people he didn’t know. He will truly be missed by his parents, family and friends.
Cody is survived by his parents Roger and Vickie, son Jayden, brother Jayce and girlfriend Courtney Saltzberry. Grandmothers Keren Seid and Cheryl Haapala, great grandmother Betty Honkala, great grandfather John Turpeinen and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Cody was preceded in death by both of his grandfathers Gordon Seid and Roger Haapala Sr., great grandmothers Lois Turpeinen , Hulda Spargo and Aunt Jorie Haapala.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church In Rockland MI on September 3rd 2022 at 11am est with Pastor Pete Lemoine officiating. A gathering will be held one hour prior to service. Following the service burial will take place at the Woodlawn cemetery and a luncheon to follow at the Rockland Town Hall.
