Dennis, “Denny” Theodore Kekke(79) of Ontonagon, MI. died on June 4th 2021 at the Omega House in Houghton, MI.

Denny was born in Ontonagon on November 21, 1941. Following Graduation from Ontonagon High School in 1959 he enlisted in the Army and served his country honorably for 3 years. He married the former Linda Morin on April 28, 1967 and they raised 2 sons Kevin & Kris.

Upon discharge from the Army, Denny took a job at the local Paper mill, retiring as a supervisor from Smurfit-Stone after 39 years of hard work and dedication. Upon his retirement he kept busy by snow plowing for anybody who needed it.  Denny joined the Norwich Country Club in 1959 and made many memories with the club, he enjoyed the many social events they offered including the monthly club meetings & helping with the labor day float each year.

Denny loved spending time with his family, There were many memorable vacations including camping at the local park, in Shawano lake or road tripping around lake Michigan.  He was an avid cribbage player and was proud of his multiple American Cribbage Congress awards.  He loved fishing the big lake and enjoyed sharing that experience with others.  Denny was a great cook & he loved cooking for family and friends.  One of his specialties was grilling the fresh lake trout he caught earlier in the day & he was known to make some of the best cherry pies around.

Denny is survived by his loving wife Linda, sons: Kevin of Ontonagon, Mi, Kris (JoLynn) of Appleton WI, Sisters: Gloria ( Cliff) Guilbault, Wausau WI, Joan (Gary) White of Wausau WI, Brother-in-law: David (Deanna) Morin, Ontonagon, Sister-in-law: Nancy Schreiber, Ontonagon along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents Ted and Tyne Kekke, sister Judy Baker and brother John Kekke.

Denny was selfless & always looked for good in others.  The glass was always half full.  His spirit, kindness and understanding will live on in all who knew him.   

The family would like to thank the Omega House for there care and compassion during the final weeks.

Those who wish may donate in Denny's name to Ontonagon Cancer Association or to the charity of their choice.

A memorial service will take place on Friday, June 18, 2021 at the United Methodist Church in Ontonagon at 11 am. Friends may call at the church 1 hour prior to the start of the service.
