Donna Niemi

Donna Niemi, age 82, of Mass City, Michigan, passed away on July 20th, 2022, after a brief illness.

She was born on January 31,1940 in Muskegon Michigan and graduated from Muskegon High School. She married Wayne Niemi on July 31,1992 in L’Anse, Michigan. Donna was the elementary school secretary for over thirty years at Baraga Area Schools, retiring in July 2000.

Donna loved reading and listening to books, one of her favorite authors was Joyce Meyer. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy, sports and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Donna belonged to her church quilting group, whom she called ‘sisters’. Donna loved spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all.

Donna is survived by her children; Thomas Pawlowski, Jill (David) Riley, David (Nancy) Pawlowski and Kristine Pawlowski and stepdaughter Jennifer (Mike) Eacker. Grandchildren: Eric, Sam, Corey, Jaelyn, Tony, Donna Beth, Nikolas, Emma, Paige, Logan and numerous great-grandchildren.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Honer and Helen Medema, husband, Wayne Niemi, brother, Lee Medema, sister, Diane Medema and son, Peter Pawlowski.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 13,2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mass City, Michigan, with visitation from 10:00am - 11:00am and service to follow at 11:00am, officiated by Pastor Jay Welshonse. A luncheon will take place following the service, in the church basement. Interment will be held at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Greenland, following the luncheon, for immediately family.
