Doreen Idmere Parker, was reunited with the love of her life, Donald, on Wednesday, August 2nd, 2023 at the age of 92, which would have been her and Donald's 71st wedding anniversary. She was born to the late Alfred LeRoy Aubrey and Dorothy Grace (Schramm) Aubrey on May 15, 1931. She graduated from Ontonagon Area Schools in 1949.
She married Donald Weston Parker on August 2, 1952 at the Holy Family Rectory by Reverend Owen J. Bennett. Together they raised six children Lynn, Chris, Scott, Karen, Rob and Anne. Don preceded Doreen in death on August 1, 1996.
Her first job was in Jr. High delivering telegrams. She was an employee of 1st National Bank for 23 years, retiring as Assistant Cashier from North Country Bank (formerly 1st National Bank) in 1990. She taught piano lessons and was a Cub Scout den mother. She was the organist for 72 years at the Holy Family Catholic Church, beginning with the Junior Choir, retiring in 2019. She was awarded the Catholic Service Award in 2019, presented to her by the Bishop of Marquette Diocese.
A lifelong resident of Ontonagon and of the Holy Family Church, Doreen was a member of the Holy Family Altar Guild and Liturgy Commission; Ontonagon Historical Society and Board of Directors and Treasurer of OCHS; Holy Family Cemetery Committee and of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and Ontonagon County Jury Board. She was a piano accompanist for many community and high school band performances, as well as a tenor sax player in the Community Band.
Important in her life were God, family, music, art, friends and animals of which she bred Scottish Terriers for a number of years.
She is survived by her six children; Lynn Parker, Chris Gotham, Scott (Michelle Schramm) Parker, Karen (Larry) Dishaw, Rob (Debra) Parker and Anne (Bill) Lundberg; 19 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Her brother Ronald "Andy" (Sandra) Aubrey and brother-in-law James "Dell" Young.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, two sisters, Joyce Young and Yvonne Szaroletta, brother-in-law Alfred Szaroletta and one grandchild Maria Anne Floyd.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023 at 10:00am at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Ontonagon, MI, followed by Rosary at 10:30am and Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Interment will be at the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.
