Dorothy Mae Timoshuk-Pottala passed away unexpectedly in the early morning of January 5th, 2022 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital. She had been in the care of Bayside Nursing Home for 7 months at the time of her passing. Prior to entering the nursing home, her daughter, Laura "Guffy" Pottala gave her 2.5 years of 24/7 care and love at Dorothy's home in Kenton, MI.
Dorothy resided in Kenton, MI where she raised a beautiful family. She worked at The Ottawa Lodge for several years as a waitress and had a few other waitressing jobs before she settled in to raising 7 children and working the homestead.
In her younger years, Dorothy enjoyed riding her palomino horse Beauty, along with taking care of the animals on the farm. She instilled a hard work ethic in her children and a basic joy of living off the fruits of the land.
Dorothy loved animals. Her cat Grey-Grey slept with her every night, and every dog she met was her new best friend. She enjoyed singing, especially in her later years, old "quips" from her era. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Kathy Cronkright, husband Jack Pottala, sisters Liz, Ella, Marjorie, Kathy, Mary, Ann and brother Mickie.
She is survived by sisters Ginny, Shirley and Lila, sons Jack Pottala and Robert Timoshuk, daughters Laura Pottala, Bonnie Pottala, Linda Pottala and Jean LaBine, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A graveside service will take place at Kenton Cemetery in Kenton on June 3, 2022 at 3pm with Pastor Ted Trudgeon officiating.
Cane Funeral Home-Bruce Crossing is assisting the family with arrangements.
