Gregory Adams

Gregory Michael Adams, 69, of Ontonagon passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday November 9th, 2023 at his home in Ontonagon. 

Greg was born in Houlton, Maine to Murray and Alice Adams on May 20th, 1954. He attended high school in Hodgon, Maine and later graduated from the University of Maine at Presque Isle with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education.  After several years of working a variety of jobs in Maine, he moved to Florida.  Eventually he went back to school and received his associate’s degree in Computer Science.  In 1984 he accepted a job as a computer programmer with EDS in the Detroit area.  In 1987 he moved to Flint with his job and this is where he met his wife Nancy playing on the same softball team.  They were married September 28, 1990.  They moved shortly after to California.  They spent the next 6 years both working as consultants at a variety of locations including California, Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago, and Milwaukee.  In 1997 they received a call from the company they worked with in Chicago saying if they came back to the company they could work remotely.  This is when they moved to Ontonagon.  Greg felt the area was very much like his beloved Maine.  Greg enjoyed hunting and fishing and the occasional trip to the casino.  His daughters were most important to him and when he wasn’t working, he could be found coaching their sports teams or cheering from the sidelines.  He also introduced them both to deer hunting. 

Greg is survived by his wife Nancy Adams (Weisinger) of Ontonagon, daughters Carly Adams of Astoria, OR and Kelsey (Seth) Weber of Weston, WI, His siblings Dennis (Jayne) Adams, William “Billy” (Beth) Adams, Joseph “Joey” Adams, Anne Adams, Murray “Clive” Jr. (Elsa) Adams, Barbara (Lee) Landry, Christine (Domingo) Alvarado, Pamela Adams, Kevin (Tammy) Adams and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. 

Greg is preceded in death by his parents Murray and Alice Adams and his sister-in-law Diana Adams. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 14th at Noon at the Cane Funeral home in Ontonagon with Pastor Bill Jacobson officiating. Friends may gather at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Ontonagon, MI.
