Helen H. Weza, 88, lifelong resident of Ontonagon passed away on July 13, 2022, at Gogebic Medical Care Facility.
She was born on January 21, 1934, in Ontonagon to Henry and Sophronia Weza.
She was employed as a secretary at Labyak Auto Sales, Ontonagon Paper Mill, and ending her working years at White Copper Company.
In her younger years, Helen was an avid bowler and seamstress. Helen loved to knit and crochet. She always made time to create something special for those that received her work. Over the years, she made countless pairs of mittens, hats, baby clothes, Afghans, Halloween costumes, and very special personalized Christmas stockings that adorn the mantle in many homes over the holidays. Helen prided herself on her extensive knowledge about the local community and the people that lived here. Helen played a big part in keeping the class rosters updated for all of the school reunion books for many years.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, brother Francis Weza, sister Cathy Uotila, and nephew Ronald Weza.
She is survived by her brother-in-law Frank Uotila and sister-in-law Nancy Weza, nephews Mike (Jessie) Weza, Bob (Robin) Weza, nieces Denise (Ed) Zanto, Julie (Jamie) Monville. Great nieces Stephanie (Gina) Weza, Lisa Weza, great nephew Ryan Curty, and her special furry niece Sassy. To her nieces and nephews, she will always be known as “auntie Helen the great.” She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
At Helens request, there will be no services. Burial will be at the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.
The Weza family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital for the wonderful care that she received.
