Jacob (Jake) William Laitala, 73, passed away on October 5, 2020 at his home in Trout Creek, MI. Jake was born in Ontonagon to Pearl and Emil Laitala on October 15, 1946.
He went to school at Trout Creek and married Peggy Yaunke on August 27, 1981 in Paynesville, MI. He worked as a farmer for most of his life and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war and served as military police in the army.
Jake is survived by his wife, Peggy, his three children, Shana Maki, Wayne (Jennifer) Laitala, and Nikki Laitala, his brother James Laitala, his two grandchildren Grace and Connor Laitala and other extended family. Jake was preceded in death by his mother and father, his older brother, John Laitala, and older sister, Marie Davis.
Visitation will be at 10:00am on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the American Legion Post in Trout Creek, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am following the visitation at the American Legion Post in Trout Creek.
Jake’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all of Jake’s doctors and nurses, with special thanks going to his home health care nurses Hillary Stites and Rachel Hamm-Negro.
