Jeanette Menigoz Obituary

Heaven welcomed an angel on Thursday, August 15, 2019. Jeanette Marie Ostrowski Menigoz passed away at the age of 80 at the Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital.

Jeanette was born in Ontonagon on March 4, 1939 to August and Anna Ostrowski. She was the only daughter and youngest of six children. She had five brothers: Valarry, Floryan, August, Daniel and Norman.

Jeanette attended the Ontonagon Schools, where she graduated with the class of 1957. During her school years, she participated in many functions, as well as being an Ontonagon Polar Bear cheerleader. Jeanette attended the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth MN, where she completed the three year nursing program and then obtained her RN license. She worked as a registered nurse for the offices of Drs Archibald, Lahti and Gervae, as well as the Ontonagon Memorial Hospital until retirement in 1998.

On April 15, 1961 Jeanette was united in marriage to Roland James Menigoz. Together they raised three children: Bruce, Mark and Julie.

Jeanette was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. However, her favorite sport was any game her grandchildren were playing. She would be on the sideline proudly sporting maroon and white Gladiator attire and cheering on her grandchildren. She rarely missed any of their activities.

Among her other favorite activities were cross-country skiing, bowling, knitting, crocheting, word searches and dancing and listening to polka music. She could often be seen walking throughout Ontonagon.

Jeanette is survived by her husband, Roland, son Bruce and his wife Christine, son Mark and his wife Kirsten, and daughter Julie and her husband Alan Ashley, grandchildren: Cameron (Carrie Ann Britton), Henry, Gabriella and Theadora Menigoz; Anne, August, Emma and Sofia Menigoz; Chloe(Dave Dishaw) and Alex Ashley; great-grandchildren; Addison Dishaw and Rudy Menigoz.

Jeanette was preceeded in death by her parents and brothers.
