Jim W. Weisinger

James W. Weisinger of Ontonagon, passed away peacefully with family by his side, at his home on Sunday, December 11, 2022, he was 80 years old.

James William Weisinger was born on 9-21-1942 to William and Lucille (Doverspike) in Ontonagon, Michigan.  He was raised on the family homestead on Firesteel Road.
He married the love of his life, Sharon Maki, on June 6, 1964.   Over the years Sharon became his rock, guide and most importantly his nurse after his 1978 logging accident when a log came off a truck and fell on him.  

He worked construction for Fox Valley for a time, but logging was in his blood.  Passed down to him by his grandfather, farther and uncles.  Jim took over the family logging business when his father retired.  In his lifetime his logging career went from horses and crosscut saws to processors and prehaulers.

Jim loved horses, Harleys and convertibles.  He had numerous throughout the years.  But after retirement his favorite toy became his farm tractor.
Jim and Sharon would take trips out west and this continued well after he retired.
Eventually something took place of the toys and travel - his six grandchildren who were his pride and joy.  

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon, his daughter Kim Weisinger and grandson Trent, son Clint (Tanya) Weisinger and grandchildren Jaden & Paige, daughter Kristi (John) Sumner and grandchildren Mason, Saiah, and Rael, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Carl Weisinger, sister-in-law Phyllis, sister Doris Truscott, brother-in-law Eugene.

A service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, at Cane Funeral Home in Ontonagon, with visitation from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, and the service officiated by David Blake starting at 2:00pm.

A luncheon will take place immediately following at the Redeemer Free Lutheran Church, 315 S. Steel St., Ontonagon.
