Keith Roehm Obituary

Keith Roehm was called to be with our Lord and Savior unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, in Marquette, MI. He was 94 years old.

Harold Keith Roehm was born in Ontonagon, MI on February 10, 1926, to Harold and Mabel (Johnson) Roehm. He was the oldest of four sons, Keith, John, Larry and Clarence. He attended Ontonagon Schools and graduated from high school in 1944.

At the age of 18 years old he entered the United States Army and served for two years as a Radio Operator, stationed in France in WWII. Upon returning home he worked at Turner Construction (the paper mill). He spent his free time hunting and fishing and playing softball with his brothers and friends. He met Beverly Dembroski and married her in 1954. Together they had four children, Brian John, Cindy Sue, Lynda Jane and Pattie Jo. Keith and Beverly made their home in Ontonagon.

He left the mill and went to work at the White Pine Copper Mine where he maintained the Water Plant Operator position for 30 years, before retiring. He found his passion of golf after retirement and boy did he play with a passion! Feared by many, loved by more, he had a consistent long game and a great short game! If you played against him, you knew your odds were not in your favor! He received recognition as the "Oldest Player" from the Golf Course and was proud of it! He enjoyed snowmobiling and had his entire family involved with riding out to camp, selecting Christmas trees and much more. He used to run a charter boat and take folks out on Lake Superior to catch their share of fish. Besides hunting and fishing and golfing, Keith bowled on a league team well into his 80's. He had several  hunting"camps" over his life, cherishing the times with those he loved, over a game of cribbage or a game of Aggravation. He will always be remembered for being the "nicest guy", and knew nearly everyone in town. He will be remembered with a smile on his face and always had a story to tell. He took tremendous pride and pleasure being the biggest fan for his grandkids and great grand kids sports games. He loved the Detroit Lions, Tigers and Pistons.  He spent several of his last years with his daily coffee clutch, which included Denny Store and Tom Immonen and some sweets as well.

Keith is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beverly; son Brian (Kelly) Roehm of Ontonagon, MI; daughters Cindy (Eric) Hollingsworth of Damascus, OR and Pattie Roehm of Ontonagon, MI; grandchildren; Christopher (Bethany) Roehm of Honolulu, HI, Brian (Kerry) Roehm of Ironwood, MI, Lori (Carl) Vandenburg of Ironwood, MI; Eric (Rachelle) Hollingsworth of Milwaukie, OR; Shannon (Chris) Jagodka of St. Louis, MO and Ryan Huff of Ontonagon, MI; great grandchildren; Tristan (Lyric) Roehm, Hailee Roehm, Casen Roehm, Claire Roehm, Ethan Roehm, Olivia, Natalie and Oscar Vandenburg, Elijah and Sophie Hollingsworth; and our latest addition, great-great grandson Liam Lord.

Keith is proceeded in death by both of his parents, his three brothers John, Larry and Clarence, and his precious daughter Lynda Jane. We know that Dad is loving his reunion with Lynda and are blessed to have the two of them watching over us.

We'd like to thank the Aspirus ER team for the care they provided for our Dad, especially Shelly. Your quick thinking, we believe, kept him with us for another day. God Bless all of you.

We will be having a graveside service with military rites on August 7th, Saturday at 11am at the Riverside Cemetery in Ontonagon. We'll have cake and coffee at Cane Court immediately following.
