Kenneth Arvid Franti 69 of Ewen, MI passed away unexpectedly early on October 24, 2022. He was born November 24,1952 in Ironwood, MI, to the late Arvid and Anna (Koski) Franti. Ken was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and was kind, compassionate, honest and humble. He lived his life with a high moral compass.
Ken graduated from Case High School in Racine, WI with the Class of 1970. He was drafted into the Army on September 6, 1972, and honorably discharged on February 29, 1974. During his military career, he received the National Defense Service Medal and was an expert in M16 and hand grenade. While serving, Ken spent time in Germany where he enjoyed skiing in the Alps and visiting various cities throughout Europe.
After serving, Ken returned home to the family farm in Ewen where he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, canoeing, nature, hunting and being near family and friends. He worked as a Sawyer in the lumbering business. A very special part of Ken’s life was his two beloved Vislas, Cindy and Sandy who were more than companions to Ken and owned a piece of his heart.
Ken is survived by his sisters, Edith Weitkum and Bertha Young; nephews Robert (Mary) Coleman, John (Michelle) Weitkum and Travis Nikson; Nieces Wendy Coleman and Dawn (Frank) Marano; along with many cousins, family and good friends. Of special note are his neighbors Charles and Arlyss Waters (Deceased) and their family, Dian, Glenn and Linnea.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and sister, Charlotte Nikson. He will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held in the Summer of 2023.
