Kristiina Miilu Obituary

Kristiina Ann Miilu, 74, of Mass City, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021, in Tampa, FL after a battle with cancer. Kristiina (Patana) Miilu was born on June 11, 1946, in L’Anse Mi, daughter of the late Nestor and Sofie Patana. She graduated from Baraga High School in 1964, where she was selected Miss Personality at her Senior Prom. She went on to beauty school and graduated in 1965 .

Kris worked in the UP before moving to New York to work for the House of Albert, who had beauty shops on 9 cruise ships, where she then worked until December of 1970. Overall, she worked as a beautician for 50 years. Kristiina married Eino S. Miilu June 10, 1972 and had 2 sons Erik in 1976 and Mikey in 1977. She was active with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and served on the Ontonagon School Board. Kris was such a positive person, really loved life, going to the casino and being around people.

Kristiina is survived by her husband of almost 49 years, Eino Miilu , son Erik (Jessica) Miilu of Tampa, FL , sister in law Brenda Patana of Rapid River Mi, sister in law Sandy Patana of New Port Richey, FL, numerous other relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Kristiina was preceded in death by her parents Nestor and Sofie Patana, half sister Florence Hodges, brothers Dick and John Patana, her son Mikey as well as multiple brother and sister in laws.

A graveside service will be held on July 10, 2021 at 10:00am at the Rousseau Cemetery in Rousseau, followed by a luncheon at the Greenland Community Center.
