Madison Irene Garcia, 17, of Trout Creek, Michigan, passed away on January 18, 2024, in Ewen, Michigan. She was born on June 14, 2006, in Ironwood, Michigan, to Tim and Beth (Perttula) Garcia. She attended Ewen-Trout Creek School from Kindergarten through her Senior year, where she was a member of the Class of 2024.
Maddie was dearly loved by her family, friends, schoolmates, teachers, and the wider community. As a small child she was known as a kind, funny, and lovable little girl. She enjoyed making rubber band bracelets and slime, was fond of Hello Kitty, and could sometimes be found selling lemonade with her friend Abbie at their roadside stand. She grew into a beautiful young woman who continued to share herself fully with those around her. She was fierce, sassy, strong, caring, hard-working, bright, uplifting, stubborn, adventurous, and a delight to be around. Madison was known by those who loved her as Mad Dog, Maddo, Maddie, and Peanut. Her passions were art, volleyball, her friends, her kitty Thea, and the color pink. She also enjoyed soccer, fishing, playing in the snow, serving on the yearbook staff, listening to music, and hanging out with her family and friends. She aspired to be a graphic designer and was making plans to go to college.
Because of her sensitive and thoughtful nature, she spoke often of missing her cousin, D.J., and honored his memory as often as she could.
Maddie is survived by her mother, Beth Garcia; brother, Zachary Garcia; special grandmother Patty (Worachek) Perttula; grandfather Kenneth (Florence) Perttula, grandfather Ramon (Margie) Garcia, great-grandmother Frances Worachek; aunt, Christina Perttula; cousin, EmmaLee Buch; uncle, Brandon Perttula, aunt, Annette Garcia; and many more aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
