Mitchell L. (Mike) Seeling, Jr. passed away at his home in Venice, FL on August 15, 2021 surrounded by loved ones.
He was born in Rockland, MI on September 25, 1934 to Mitchell L. and Gertrude (Schmaus) Seeling, Sr. just a few moments before his twin sister Marlene. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and eventually was stationed in Germany. He earned his degree from Lawrence Tech University in Southfield, MI.
Mike married Joan Brandenburg on October 1, 1966. He worked as an electrician in the Detroit area for over 40 years before retiring and moving to Florida. If you knew Mike, you knew he would often be found close to an airport. He was an avid private pilot who enjoyed working on his planes at the hanger or joyfully taking family and friends for airplane rides. He was a loving and devoted grandfather, who could always be found sitting in the stands cheering on his grandkids at all of their many sporting events. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was generous beyond measure.
Mike will be greatly missed by sisters Bernadette (Denny) Davis of Brighton, Mary Brown of Marlette, Marlene (Ron) Hajek of Grand Rapids, children Michelle (Robert) Hill of Venice, FL, John (Chris) Serra of Fruitport, Diane (Russ) Buys of Muskegon; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews.
