Obituary

Dad, known to others as Paul Reichardt, 68, of Ontonagon, has been received into his new life with his Savior Jesus Christ on December 22, 2022.

Paul was born at the Ontonagon Memorial Hospital on June 13th, 1954 to Harold and Estrid (Newquist) Reichardt, the youngest of 6 children. Paul graduated from Ontonagon High School in 1972 and attended college in St Saint Marie for a period of time. Moving back to Ontonagon in 1975 he started work at the local papermill where he worked as a welder/pipefitter, and ultimately as a machinist in the maintenance department. He was always expanding and honing his many skills for the 30+ years he worked there.

During that time he met Marian Middaugh whom he married on October 23rd, 1976. Paul was a sailor, father, scuba diver, author, RC airplane enthusiast and more. Paul was a student of the outdoors and an avid deer hunter.

Paul is survived by his wife of 46 years Marian, their son Isaac (Sara) Reichardt, daughter Leah (Joel) Carver, son Andrew, and son Philip (Katie) Reichardt along with his sister Susan (Donald) Helsel, and his brother Harold (Diane) Reichardt. Paul has seven grandchildren: Ethan, Lydia, Joel, Lois, Laurel, James and Rylee.

A sad good-bye came when Paul was preceded in death by his youngest son Titus. Paul was also preceded in death by his parents Harold and Estrid, his sister Carolyn Richmond, his sister Nancy Niemi and his brother Peter.

Through thirty years of life with a disabling brain tumor, Paul enjoyed creating and building all types of machines in his home shop. From electricity producing windmills, lumber on his sawmill, home made tractor crawler and even an electric car; he also made bows, arrows and canoe paddles and many other things.
