Randy Buccanero Obituary

Randy Lloyd Buccanero, 61, of Ontonagon, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 19, 2022. A familiar face around the Ontonagon community, Randy was known for his quiet, independent spirit, unique sense of humor, and kind heart, offering help to anyone in need. Many will remember and miss his genuine smile, offer to lend a hand with a snow-covered walkway, invite for a beer at one of the local stops, or a warm “Have a wonderful day!” offered to the people he would meet along his day.

In recent years, Randy had provided companionship and caregiving support while living with an elder friend. At a time when support can be hard to find, Randy was a valued friend and caregiver. He also enjoyed visiting neighbors and local businesses throughout the community offering a helping hand for a variety of projects.

As the oldest brother of six, Randy would often enjoy challenging his sisters, playing with his nieces and nephews, spending time with friends, and was happy to embrace life on his own terms.

Randy was born on January 18, 1961, to Claire (Morris) and Lloyd Buccanero in Ironwood, Michigan. After moving from Iron Belt, the family settled in Ontonagon where he was later raised by his sisters after the passing of his beloved mother, Claire.

He is survived by his four sisters, Sandy Buccanero of Farmington Hills, Marlene (Jim) Picotte of Gwinn, Bonnie (Yogi) Picotte, and Jackie Dobbins, all of Ontonagon; six nieces and nephews, James Picotte, Melissa (Shawn) Seymour, Mike (Hannah) Picotte, Tony Picotte, Dan Picotte, and Kristy Dobbins; three great-nieces, Arianna and Gianna Picotte, and Breannah Seymour; as well as his walking buddy, Mick.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Claire, along with his younger brother, John.

A memorial service for Randy will be on Friday, March 4th with visitation at noon until the time of service at 2 pm at the Siloa Lutheran Church in Ontonagon with Pastor Jay Welshonse officiating. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon after the service at the Ontonagon Eagles Club. Burial services will be held at a later date.
