Ronald Gagnon Obituary

Ronald Gagnon, age 55, formerly of Rockland, Mi. Passed away unexpectedly on December 12, 2023, in Ontonagon County.

Ronald Gagnon was born in Ontonagon, Michigan to Edward Gagnon and Judith Geist on March 27, 1968. Ron’s dad went on to remarry Julie Gagnon and was raised with a blended family in Rockland. Throughout his many travels in life, he always referred to Rockland as his “hometown”. He attended Rockland Grade School, then graduated from Ontonagon High School in 1986. He married Kimberly Hicks on September 1, 1991 and divorced November 8, 1996 and never remarried.

Shortly after graduation he joined the U.S. Navy. During his time in the Navy he was very honored to be a part of the Valdez oil spill cleanup. He was discharged honorably from the service. He went on to find his love for cross country truck driving which went on until his retirement. He made the top 10 drivers in 7 countries. Ron was known for his smile, sense of humor, his sparkling wink, and his hearty laugh. He always knew when somebody needed an encouraging word. Ronald loved to fish, hunt, hike, and explore the outdoors. Bagging that 14 pt. whitetail in his hometown is a story in itself. The fish tales will be shared over again.

Ron Gagnon is survived by three beautiful daughters, Deserae Gagnon, Chelsey Gagnon, and Hannah Gagnon. Ron is also survived by his brothers William Gagnon and Richard (Pamela) Gagnon, and sister Jacqueline (Rick) Niemi, step-sisters; Carolyn Leonard (Denise Penegor) & Jody Leonard (Bob Axley), step-mother Julie Gagnon. Along with 6 grandchildren: Jayden, Kaylee, Maverick, Hunter, Kinsley, and Temari. Along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves behind his very special friend(love) Donna whom he shared many new memories.

Ron Gagnon is preceded in death by his father Edward Gagnon Jr and mother Judy Geist, and all his grandparents.

Ronald wanted to be cremated and have his ashes spread in Lake Michigan. There will be a small ceremony held in the springtime with close friends and family.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family asks for donations to be made to assist with Ron's final expenses. Donation may be made on Ron's obituary page at
